On my easel Howling Gray Wolf

Howling Gray Wolf

Medium - Gouache with a little Dr. Martin's Radiant watercolor.

14 x 10 on 140# Canson Watercolor paper.

When I paint I attempt to include the hidden colors that I see in the lights & shadows. These are colors that help bring a painting to life. They are there in nature, just difficult to see. If I don't add the colors, it tends to lack life. I slightly exaggerate these colors. It gives my paintings life, a contemporary realism without being photographic. If I wanted a photographic representation, I would use a camera to capture the image.
